Tamara Miller

La compositora Tamara Miller dedica su labor a la creación de música instrumental contemporánea de diversas conformaciones, cómo también a la búsqueda de formatos más experimentales e interdisciplinares a través de la inclusión de elementos escénicos como el uso del cuerpo y el espacio, o el diseño de iluminación por mencionar algunos. Esta búsqueda la ha llevado a enfocarse en el trabajo colaborativo e interdisciplinar, dando origen en primera instancia al colectivo Acantun, establecido en Dresde, con quienes desarrolla el proyecto “Tempel im Gehör” en colaboración con el ensamble El Perro Andaluz. En 2020 fundó junto a otras artistas sudamericanas el colectivo interdisciplinar LAR∀S, el cual se enfoca en temáticas socio-políticas latinoamericanas, migración y feminismo. Actualmente desarrolla también de forma paralela una serie de obras de tipo performance para ser estrenadas en conjunto.
Sus obras instrumentales han sido ejecutadas en Chile y el extranjero, algunas llegando a ser destacadas con premios como el “Composers in Region – Fantasie Musik” organizado por la Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen , el “Premio OSSCA” de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Salerno Claudio Abbado en Italia, y el tercer lugar en el concurso de composición “Orquesta Marga Marga” en 2016.

Tamara tiene un Bachelor en Artes en composición de la Universidad de Chile y un M. Mus. en Composición de la Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Actualmente se encuentra realizando un segundo Master en Composición Electrónica en la Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.

The composer Tamara Miller  dedicates her work to the creation of contemporary instrumental music of diverse conformations, as well as to the search for more experimental and interdisciplinary formats through the inclusion of scenic elements such as the use of body and space, or light design, to mention a few. This search has led her to focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary work, giving rise in the first instance to the collective Acantun, based in Dresden, with whom she’s developing the project “Tempel im Gehör” in collaboration with the ensemble El Perro Andaluz. In 2020 she founded together with other South American artists the interdisciplinary collective LAR∀S, which focuses on Latin American socio-political issues, migration and feminism. She is also currently developing in parallel a series of performance-type works.

Her instrumental works have been performed in Chile and abroad, some coming to be highlighted with awards such as the “Composers in Region – Fantasie Musik” organized by the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen , the “OSSCA Award” of the Salerno Symphony Orchestra Claudio Abbado in Italy, and third place in the composition competition “Orquesta Marga Marga” in 2016.
Tamara has participated in various festivals including the Festival Musica in Strasbourg, the IMPULS Festival for New Music Saxony-Anhalt 2019, the Transformation Festival Copenhagen 2017, the Transformation Festival New York, the V Berlin Soup International Festival of the Arts, the IIº Ciclo de Música Chilena Contemporánea SCD, II Festival Azul, and the XVIII Festival International de Música Contemporánea.

Tamara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Composition from the Universidad de Chile and an M. Mus. in Composition from the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. She is currently studying a second Master in Electronic Composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
